Acorn Childcare,
A good relationship and regular dialogue between parents/ carers and Acorns is vital if continuity of care is to be provided and maintained. Every-day messages can be jotted down in the Art Room (in the ‘message book’) and passed to Ken or Elle to pass on to Kathy, or a note in your child’s bag will be dealt with as soon as possible. If you child is under 18 months, we will keep a home-Acorns diary in their bag- we will jot down significant happenings during your little one’s sessions here, and we hope that you will add items of interest from home- particularly if you think something at home (busy weeked, new pet…) might affect your child’s time at Acorns.
We aim to send a newsletter home approximately every four to six weeks, and sometimes you may receive a little warning note – if your child has been cutting out, or learning to use the taps, for instance!
Approximately every six months your contract will be due for review. This is a good time to try to find a few minutes to discuss how our child has settled and is progressing and to plan any major changes – e.g. potty training, ‘Terrible 2s’, getting ready for school… Kathy undertook her NCMA Quality Assurance evaluation in 2005, part of which was to draw up protocols for just about everything you can think of to with child care and early years education.
